Cat-tip-for-the-day=^..^=Play

Do you play with your cat? In order to keep it happy and content you need to add fun and excitement to it's life. If your cat is an in-door only cat, please PLAY with your cat. Most in-door cats are bored and need some stimulation. Add a box or a big brown paper bag to it's area and roll a ball into it. Get down on the floor and play along with your cat while it rolls a ball around. Attach a feather to a stick and dangle it so the cat will jump. Exercise is so important for cats who are unable to climb trees and run free. I find a ping-pong ball really gets Audrey going if I bounce it down the hall or the stairs. Adding new toys to their stash once a month is something for them to discover and have fun with.  Spend time with your cat. They love that.

hugs, Deb

  2. I knew our Cleo was in her 70's!!! And not at too surprised that Sadie is a bit "middle aged" (somewhere in her 30's)...but, like many 30 somethings, she's still got some maturing to do!!!

I LOVE the photo of you with that gorgeous orange and white cat on your sidebar!!! How come this is the first time I've noticed that???

  3. This is great- we used to just multiply by 7 but it didn't really add up correctly. Apparently we've got a feline geriatric center at our place :)

  4. Charlie is almost 15 so no wonder he gets grumpy sometimes. I need to get a new wand with a string and feathers on it for him.

  5. Ed, you are a grand fella!

My mother would tend to have things around to entertain the cats. At one point she started to roll up balls of foil to toss. The cats had fun batting those around the hardwood floors.

  7. Hi Deb,
Have you ever thrown a ping pong ball into the bath tub for Audrey? We had a little cat that when she would hear it bouncing in the tub would come flying down the hall, make a big round half circle at top speed right through the doorway and jump into the tub! She loved to bat it around where it would move so quickly and easily and not escape under a chair! Thanks for the age chart!

  9. Our cats are very good at choosing their own toys--not always objects I'd like them to have. Sometimes these are bits and pieces that can be very noisily rolled down the hall at night. Boxes and baskets sitting around for whatever purpose are a huge attraction.

  17. Your Mr. Ed should be in the record books... at 25, he must be one of the oldest kitties alive... he was born the same year I went to junior kindergarden (1988)! Thank you for sharing your kitties.
