Decorating for Spring

Ginny is sleeping the night again. I was about to jump in the Mississippi River when it dawned on me that she might sleep if her belly is full. So, I cut her dinner in half and gave the 2nd half to her just before bed. She ate, washed a little and hit the pillow until 6:30 the next morning. "Thanks Ginny....Deb can see straight again."

Kitties are helping me go through the Easter decorations today. This is my favorite time to decorate because everything shouts "SPRING". I'll show you some of them.
"Need my help, Deb?"
These are old and chippy and hold chocolate eggs.(photo from last year)

It's a lazy day. 10 minutes of this and then it rained.
I'm pet-sitting bunnies today, too.
It's raining outside but it is spring in here.
So, I'm just playing around a bit today. Not too serious about anything.
Then, off to cuddle this gorgeous fella.

Cravendale - Cats with Thumbs

This is all they have ever wanted......they wouldn't need me then.

I found this on Catsitter in the City blog and had to share with my followers. Go over and meet her, too.

happy weekend

It's been an interesting week of cat-sitting & not-sleeping because Ginny is showing signs of dimentia now and we notice it at night. She walks around calling in her Siamese voice (Oh Gawd!!) and it wakes me up with a start. Last night it was 5 times she came in yelling. I just put her beside me and she settles for awhile and then zoom....she's gone again; only to return later. She has been diagnosed with kidney failure but we are not seeing any difference in her. This behaviour is different. I have to have a plan for tonight because I am exhausted.

Mr. Ed is another one that likes to roam around at night. He probably is a little confused too. Neither of them show signs of it except at night. Sometimes I will catch Ginny standing in front of a closet door and just staring at it. Always at night.
Oh.........I just dozed off a minute.
Little shy kitty has decided to stay under the bed while I am doing my cat-nanny duties. Today I tried a trail of treats to see if she would come out but no way. So I left the room and almost closed the door so she thought I was completely gone and she scampered out and gobbled them up only to return to the safety of the bed when I came back in. Kitty 1  Cat-nanny Deb  big fat 0.
"Silly cat. She should come out and get some pampering."

we celebrate my son this weekend and eat cake. Yah!
He's such a great dad.

Sprucing up

By the end of winter all living things are in need of a bit of sprucing up. In our home that would be ME, the cats & my plants.
Yes, this is an orchid and I have neglected it.
I have 4 seniors cats. Ginny 24 years, Mr. Ed 21 years, Cali 18 years & Lily 15 years.

Sierra is the kid here. She is 8 years old. It is time to clip nails and brush, brush, brush.

I have had so much enjoyment from all these 4 seniors and still do. They have provided such amusement to the family and an over-abundance of affection.
Now, it is up to us to provide more comfort, understanding, patience, proper nourishment and a kind hand to their aging bodies.
With love.

Old friends sitting like book-ends

The sun does the rest.

If you are thinking of adopting, please consider an adult cat instead of a kitten. They are worthy of a second chance at a good, long life.
I've been asked how my cats have lived so long.
I've done nothing different than any of you have.
Some animals, just like people, will live a longer life.
Could be the genes. Could be that they have always known they are loved.

More baby steps

Thanks Carm for thinking of me.
Have you met Carm? Oh, you are in for a treat. Here's her blog so go over and meet some of the most handsome and beautiful cats you have ever laid eyes on. Lots of floof!
http://cclcarm.blogspot.com/

So.................................she's still hiding but I have it so that she comes out once I close the door to get her food and use the box and then.... zooooooooooooom, back under the bed she goes. I have to remember to take baby steps. So far, she just gave me a dirty look with these huge eyes when I lay on the floor and talked to her. She looked like she might pass out when I started to sing to her. That was quite insulting. So I will just go about doing what I do and as long as she eats, drinks and uses the box I will just wait her out. She's so cute and I want to hold her and tell her that I am at her beck and call but that will have to wait or maybe it will never happen. We'll see.

Meanwhile, I am so enjoying the happy twosome. They are great fun and apparently they like me. :)

White Wednesday

Lily
I love the colour white and have filled my home with many white things but my very favorite bit of white in my life is this little girl. This darling little barn cat that moved into my home and my heart.

I'm so happy we are starting a new month and getting closer to Spring. So far, March is coming in like a lamb and the sun feels good. March is the month that we celebrate my son who will turn 27. He has seen a lot of wonderful changes in his life this last year and he is so proud of his little Riley. Also this March our family will celebrate my only living aunt's 90th birthday. Can you imagine living 90 years? She is my mother's baby sister and I am sure my mom smiles down on her. They were sistersand best friends.
I love this old photo of my grandmother and her three daughters. Left to right, my aunt Frances who is turning 90, my grandmother Mary who I adored, my aunt Vera who was my God-mother and my mom.

and now for a little more black & white
This little guy needs a loving home. His name is Lance and he is staying with his foster-mom in our town. He is a darling cat and not yet a year old. If you are interested in learning more about this guy, please contact me.

I'm still working on shy kitty. We are taking baby-steps.

always a social thing

Having my first cup of coffee is always a social thing.

Off to visit with my client's cats. I have been pondering my strategy with little shy one that will most likely be under the bed when I arrive.  I know she loves treats so that will be my first move. Wish me luck!
