Give-away winner & a thirsty visitor

Gary drew the winning name from a ball-cap. We don't do anything fancy around here.

And the winner of my give-away is .....The Cat Guy at http://www.fourwhitepaws.net/
Congratulations to you & I hope you enjoy the book, especially. I would love to hear what you thought of it. Your cats should really enjoy the Cat Dancer.
Please send me your mailing address and I will send off your gift but be patient as we are having a postal strike at this time.

Summer is here in 5 days and besides caring for travelling cat-owner's cats I also get to play in their gardens. Most often, their gardens need watering while they travel so of course I gladly volunteer to do that for them. I am just now starting to have an interest in gardening. I guess I was just  too busy. I think I always thought gardening was for older people, HA! Now I'm there so I'll get right on it.

I added a few more pots to the front of our home and my baskets are looking good.

I'll be planting tomatoes tomorrow. I didn't have any luck with them last year but I will persevere. I am nothing if not stubborn.
The afternoon walks are taken alone these days. It is too hot for our Kane. I take him out early and then he sleeps along with the cats the rest of the day.  It feels odd walking without him. It makes me think of what's ahead when we no longer have him. I can start tearing up just thinking about it.

I have photographed this old bicycle before but wandered by it again today. I love how it still sits in it's rusted state adorned with flowers.
Flowers and cats can make anything look better.
Like this guy watching me snap pictures of the bicycle from his porch. Doesn't he add beauty to that old rocker? I think he told me to "Bug Off".

I leave water out for our cats during the day and was a little surprised to see who had come by for a cool drink.
He never bothered the cats as they all remained stink-free.

Helma and Ebony are doing fine this week and I will be adding 2 more cats tomorrow. Then the weekend gets busy once again. I love this job.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes

I woke up the morning of my birthday, rib still sore and riveting from the wedding and my first thought was.."OK...I'm not 60 yet" which was so funny because it really is just a number, right? I wandered into the kitchen and all my fans were waiting, not with a birthday gift, just waiting with mouths open
and in chorus. "Where's breakfast, 'ol lady?" They stand there with tails up high and smug looks on their aging faces. I start thinking about some of my old relatives for some reason. I grabbed a coffee first (it is my birthday, after-all) and then dished it out. The dry is always there but they want the smelly stuff in the morning. They will now head for the deck and sleep off the trauma of 'waiting' for breakfast. Like my kids say, "It's like a retirement home for old cats around here" Yep, they got that right.
What a glorious day to have a birthday. My plans were made for the day. Cat-sitting and visiting Helma and then a long walk with Kane. More flower purchasing for the front of the house where I ran into a cat-sitting client/blogger friend. She is waiting for twin grandchildren to be born. WOW! And then dinner out with Gary, John, Brit & Riley at the pub where Ross the waiter says "the usual?"  I love that!

It was a nice, relaxing birthday. I didn't have the energy for anything but. I've added flowers to the front entrance and I am happy with that.
One of the cats in my care this week is a gorgeous black beauty named Ebony.
Right now there are many beautiful black cats sitting at our local shelter. Please take a look at their website if you are looking to add a wonderful companion to your family.http://www.lanarkanimals.ca/

Does your cat have hairball issues? Try giving the cat some tonic-lax that will help the hair move through the system and out into the litter-box.
Here you see me putting it on a dish for Ebony as she just laps it up along with her dinner.
It works........it's great........they like it.

hugs, Deb
I'll draw tomorrow night for the give-away. You still have time to comment.

HOT love

It is so hot here today I had to walk without the dog. Yet, these two love-birds spend their day like this.

Give-away

The weather is gorgeous here today. Cool and sunny. I am just back from caring for Helma the German Shepherd who belongs to a friend of my husband. I don't normally provide care for dogs but Helma is a 'model dog' and I enjoy pampering her with combings and massages. I visit her twice a day and she runs 2 acres of land when I'm not there. It is all fenced in and she guards it with her life. Darling dog! She comes in to the house through a dog-door any time she pleases and sleeps on her owner's bed. Not a bad life. (I was about to put eh! there but I should stop doing that. Proud Canadian here but really.

Well, as promised I want to have a Give-away and since tomorrow is my birthday  (gag!) I'll give you a chance to win a few gifts.  So, I have a book on health (very radical but interesting). Gary says if you read this you will think that I am a wacko for liking it. Make up your own mind and then we'll talk about it later.
a gorgeous kitty tea-towel
that would look cute in any kitchen or cat-room (yes, some people have cat rooms) and a pretty pair of drop earrings with a pearl for when you want to 'glamour-up'. I'm done with glamouring-up for awhile.

I purchased them as a give-away when I was shopping for earrings for the wedding.
And for your kitty or a kitty you may know,  I will be sending along a cat-dancer. This is the one toy all my cats will get off their lazy duffs and play with. It's always a sure-thing. Even at 22 years of age this will get Mr. Ed off the couch. It's hilarious to watch him go.
So, if you follow along then let me know and I will put your name in twice. If you are not a follower,  you still have a chance and I will drop your name into the hat once.

Good Luck everyone. You have 'til Friday evening.
I'll be caring for a velvet black beauty with big gold eyes starting tomorrow. Ebony will be featured soon.

Hugs, Deb
