Spider alert

 After Natalie and Gordon from  http://knatolee.blogspot.ca/ left yesterday I found two spiders in the bathroom.
Well, that just won't do. I summoned the cats together to have a discussion on their duties and how they are slacking off during this heat wave. "How are we ever to entertain if I can't trust you to do your jobs around here." Most of the felines gave me a "Hmph" but good ol' Sierra took this very serious and went around the house pointing out the ceiling bugs. Yes, two more had made it to the 9 foot ceiling without one swat of a cat's paw. She got a treat of canned salmon before calling it a night.

 How to find spiders in your house

                          ...   just follow the 'keen' cat around.

note...I just take them outside. I can't squish 'em.

Stopping by on a bee-supply run

Lucky for us, Natalie from http://knatolee.blogspot.ca/and Gordon shop at a bee-supply shop only minutes from our home.

So...they stopped in and we headed out for lunch.

Since we had recently had a good lunch at the Waterfront Gastro Pub it was easy to choose the restaurant. It sits along the Mississippi River.

The retired-guy took a pic of Nat and I and then we realized we needed a cat in the photo so Audrey joined us , whether she liked it or not.  

Cutest couple ever.

It is always so great to see Natalie and Gordon and once again she came with her arms loaded with fresh chicken and duck eggs, the best honey ever and her amazing soap. Duck eggs..this will be a first.

Is there anything this girl doesn't turn her hand to?

Week's end

My favorite photo this week of one of my kitty-clients, Willow.

She is one of the prettiest cats I know and loves to sit on very flattering material. I have so many gorgeous cats to show you that I am caring for but I'll keep that for next week.

We were out for a walk this morning and came across this catalpa tree in full bloom. It is a tropical-looking, North American, native shade tree.

The fragrance is even more beautiful than the blossoms. An amazing tree. We are actually trying to grow one.

It has a bean-like seed pod. It is just awesome to look at.

Riley and Kane were with us and Gramps thought Riley should wear some blossoms.

It don't take much

Audrey - "So,  I'm lying here contemplating dinner when I hear this excitement coming from the kitchen."

Crazy lady - "Oh, how cute is that.  This brings back memories when I was a little girl."

Audrey - "I'm praying she hasn't found a kitten under the island or somethin' when she scoops me up (with quite force, I must say) to show me this...

"Look Audrey, a miniature tea-pot. A little something extra in the tea-bag box."

Then she screams, "And it has feet."

Now I ask you...Is this woman off her nut?

This is my favorite blue and white tea-pot. It has cute little feet.

and Audrey's playing with her favorite toy...a cork from a wine bottle.

Again....cheap and fun. They are too big to swallow and provides lots of chasing and retrieving.
Audrey gives them 'two paws up'. Let's just hope she can't read.

Not a bad wine, btw. 
My daughter started these from seeds so I guess I won't have to buy tomatoes this year. I love having fresh tomatoes on the deck.

Pickin' daisies

I love that there are daisies everywhere right now.

Every back road, country road and ditch has these happy little flowers peaking out.

I just have to stop and pick some.

The weather was perfect today.

Neighbourhood felines were out and about.

This guy was wary of the dog.

It's amazing where they will catch a few zzzzzzzzzzzzzz's.

and even the inside-only kitties enjoyed the cool breeze at the window.

Isn't this a sweet face.

We had a little chat and I do believe I got a pose here.

And what holds my pretty daisies at home?

This gorgeous gravy boat/maple syrup server/flower vase was a gift from the very talented Ronna from http://ronnas.blogspot.ca/. She painted the yellow cat on one side and a red one on the other. It sits beautifully in my step-back cupboard and compliments the daisies.

Ronna is an artist, animal-lover and an amazing cake-baker so I really think you should pop over and have a visit. You won't believe her cakes.

Daisies are the happy flower.

Sweetest

This darling little face belongs to Lola.

Sweetest little pink lips ever.

Years back, she was a rescue; found in a field in sad condition. She is a cherished member of a family now and lives with Otis and Rosie. I love to know that some cats do get a second chance.


Cat-tip-for-the-day=^..^=Let's organize kitties stuff.

I've shown this before but felt it was worth showing again. Do you have an old shoe organizer put away in your closet that is not in use? Well, here's a great way to keep kitties stuff all in one place. Once it's filled up just hang it on the back of a door and out of sight.

This is one of my favorite 'tips' and it works great in our home.
