Morning light

These were taken yesterday morning while the sun shone. Today it is rainy and dark.
We have been so busy finishing the outside of the mouse-house. Yes, WE are doing it...try to picture that. But, it's coming along and I'm excited to show you the finished results. The retired-guy has been having fun with this project and me, well, it's a learning experience. I doubt I'll do this again, though. I'm staying put.

Here's a little addition to the bedroom. I have the grands in mind but then again, my own kids used to love that, too. ha!

A teeny visitor and taking in some local festivities.

While working around our property today I was visited by this lovely butterfly. I was picking up rocks around the mouse-house and throwing them into a wheel-barrow. It stayed very close to me, not minding the noise, flitting around the dirt and sand. It didn't seem to have any interest in the lush greenery about; just the dirt.

I had no idea who my company was today so I checked it out on the internet.

I think it is the male Swallowtail Magnificent Papilio garamus although there was not much of a tail on this one. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I can take it. ;-)
They are the largest butterflies of North America.
I read that one thing they like to feed on is urine which made sense since our dog uses this area to do his business. Geesh, such a beauty. Whodathunk.

On this gorgeous day there were many markets and out-door celebrations to attend.

We walked around all morning taking in some of the festivities.

There were numerous vendors, delicious food and so many talented artists to visit.
The retired-guy came home with a bottle of Belgian-style beer cordial (a flavored syrup made with Triple Chocolate Stout) Yum!
I found a beautiful silver watch that had a band made from vintage sterling silver dinner forks.
 
The cats got a new mat for under their ESS. All fresh and new and stinkin' of cat-nip. They loved it. Annie soon owned it.

Tomorrow should be another glorious day. I guess it's back to work on the mouse-house.

Busy as a bee.

Thank you everyone who commented to let me know what my pretty weed is. It has two names as most weeds do; Rape-seed and Field Mustard.
I think I'll call it Field Mustard.
It is a very pretty weed and it didn't take long for a visitor today to notice it and want to get up close and personal.

She was as busy as a bee out there.

I asked, "Do they smell nice, Gwynn?"

She said "Uh huh!"

Then it was time to get some sand out of her shoe.

This little one will sleep well tonight after a busy day helping nan and gramps at the mouse-house.

She made sand castles, carried around many buckets of dirt, helped re-seed the lawn, smelled as many Spring flowers as she could and finally got up on the old tractor with gramps.

"Let's see, which button starts this thing?"

We had lots of rain today so the gardens and the grass are taken care of for a few days.

We are in for a warm and sunny weekend.

Dusting off dishes brings a recent memory to mind.

I'm lovin' my new blue & white place-mats that my daughter gave me for Mother's Day. Does this girl know her mom or what?

Today I did a bit of re-organizing and added my red and white tea-cups for summer tea.

Annie loves to join me when I am playing with my dishes.

If there was ever a dishaholic cat that would be Annie.  ;-)

As I dusted off and added my red and white tea-cups to the old step-back cupboard, I was reminded of the first time I met Natalie and Ronna. We had become friends through blogging, and because we lived only an hour and a half apart, we met and had such a fun day together. It was a day of drinking tea, having lunch and touring the towns of Almonte and Carleton Place.

It wasn't long after that they dropped by again with their guys, Gordon and Richard. They preferred their tea and coffee in more manly mugs.

I'm hoping they find some time this summer to drop by the mouse-house. Oh, it will be a tight squeeze for sure, but tea, coffee and some treats will be ready.

Pretty weed

I'm not sure what these Spring flowers are but they sure are pretty. I gathered them up from behind the mouse-house where a pile of sifted soil was brought in by the septic guys. I love the new 'weed' but unfortunately this is the area where the daisies grew so I'm afraid they are now gone. I'll have to grow some next year.

Mildred from http://nalleycats.blogspot.ca/ asked if I could remember my favorite tea-cup from my grandmother's summer kitchen cupboard. Well, yes I can.  It was china, red and black with gold on the rim of the cup and saucer and it had a fire-breathing dragon painted across one side. I remember thinking it was just 'the cat's meow'.

I had about a thousand cups of tea in it. :) with the same amount of cookies.

I would love to have it today and I always keep my eye open for one similar whenever I am in a thrift or antique shop.

I've also looked on-line.

It was very gloomy here yesterday.

I was working with my header but my computer is not up to par right now.

The header I am using is from 2014.

It's nice to feature Lily again.

Sierra did some modeling this morning.

She always steps up to the plate (or would that be a tiny saucer of milk) for me.

Hope the sun is shining in your neck of the woods.

I need some Gwynn-time today so I plan to be busy.

Audrey's life sucks

If you want to drop by and expect my bed to be made.....

please give me 'til noon. Otherwise, it's occupied by,

 as you can see, a great hairy beast.

"Don't you have something else to do?"

"Something else to do? Well, let's see. I could brush these sheets and wash up those cute little cat dishes that read "Feed Me" now that you've enjoyed a delicious and prompt breakfast. Or perhaps I could replace all the items that flew through the air from my dresser top at 5:45am when the breakfast bell went off in your head. I could take a few minutes and look on line for a new window blind since mine has twenty cat nail holes in it. I know, I know...it wasn't you."
But no, ...I'll leave you be so you don't miss your beauty sleep. I can only take so much of that mouth of yours, anyway.
