'Tis the season for a give-away

Today I spent the day Christmas shopping in Merrickville, Ont. with two of my dearest friends. I shopped 'til I dropped (so the saying goes) and I found a special little Christmas ornament for one of my blogging friends' Christmas tree. Now, I'm not about to show it to you because let's face it, it really should go under your beautiful Christmas tree and be opened on Christmas morning so you will just have to trust me that it is adorable. You know, like a kitten.....but it's not a kitten 'cause they don't ship well in a box.
I love to do up Christmas packages and I'm sure if you received this little gift you would also find some special Christmas surprises tucked around in a festive box. So.....................if you would like to leave a comment after this post I will add your name for this give-away to be drawn on November 25th (the American Thanksgiving, if I am correct) and the winner will be announced that evening. Good luck!
My kitchen Christmas tree makes me hungry.....time for an apple and hot chocolate (yum)

Glamour Girl

Dominique and I spend lots of time lying around looking at magazines and getting to know each other. She loves to help me turn pages. She's a cat-dancer kind-of-girl too.  I think she's quite the  Girly Girl.
I have such a treat for you. Wait til you meet Sydney & Mimi. I will be caring for them next week and met them for the first time today. They are both so adorable and both rescues from the street. They both have a story to tell as one has 1/2 a tail and the other 1/2 an ear from frost-bite. Now they live in the lap of luxury. Can't wait for you to meet them. :)
Kitchen Christmas madness
Today would have been my mother's 92nd birthday. "Happy Birthday, Mom. I felt your presence with me everywhere today and you made this day a beautiful one."  I miss you."

Dusting off the Santas

I had full intentions to decorate the stairs today but I can't find 'real' garland in strands for the staircase. I'll have to search on the weekend because today I was too busy running from house to house caring for kitties. The outdoor decorations are popping up here and there especially in my neighbourhood. Although I think I am early at this, I am never the first.

Dominique and I had a fun time this morning looking through magazines on the carpet together. She likes to sprawl across me while I read. She is such a cutie!

I am heading up to see Big Helma soon for her 2nd visit today. She is doing very well and her dad will be home in 2 days. She will turn inside-out when she sees him.

Santas are now out in the dining-room being dusted off and primped up for their show this Christmas. That show being my stairs. Nothing amazing but I love how they look. Every expression imaginable.

The weather is dry today but cool.  Thank goodness that cold rain is over.
Hope you are enjoying decorating whether it be for the American Thanksgiving or Christmas.  Have fun!

She melts my heart

My son and his family
Have you ever seen anyone cuter in tights? Our grand-daughter Riley with mommy & daddy had some family photos done and I just had to share them with you. She melts my heart!

I guess it's a Nana's right to brag.

Last night it started pouring and we are in for wet weather for 3 days. I worry about the feral cats but I have a dry place to feed them so they will still get their meals. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers...they are God's little creatures that were discarded at one time and now they are wild and no one can get near them. Why does this happen? God Bless Them.

let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.

Baby blues

These two little ladies are candle holders and date back to the 50's. They belonged to my husbands' sister who passed away 10 years ago. They have a few chips in them but I still like them a lot. They will sit in my dining-room over Christmas.

"Ed, are you awake?
I want to show my blogger friends your baby blues."
"Hi, Sweet man. You look so wise this morning"

Loving the weather and I'm dreaming of a silver Mookie

The weather here in good 'ol Ontario is very unseasonal right now. It is sunny, crisp but not cold, and bright clear skies. No one is even wearing a coat these days besides my husband who would wear his leather jacket even on a hot day. (weird)

I've been out walking Kane a lot these days and I am still caring for my German friend Helma, the Shepherd. Poor Buddy and Chase are so wanting to get outside but while I care for them they must stay in. Their owner is back tomorrow and they will zoom out the door.

Cats & Yogurt
I have a hard time getting my cats to like yogurt. I have read it is very good for them and it would be so easy to add their spirulina to it instead of putting it into their soft food but I can't
get my cats to eat it. It is so good for their digestion and helps to keep them regular but
they just refuse. *blah!*
Did you know that cats cannot taste sweetness in food? When you are having your favorite flavor and the cat bugs you for a taste of that sweet, strawberry kind you should switch it up for the cat and serve the plain type. A little once in awhile is good; a whole bowl will cause tummy upset so be careful with the amount.

"I'm having a flash-back tonight"
I am heading into my 16th year of cat-sitting. The picture below was of myself and my first cat-sitting client, Mookie. I cared for him for 8 years while his owners travelled. I think of him at Christmas-time and remember the many visits I sat beside his Christmas tree and cuddled him and listened to his roaring purr. He was a lion while he roamed his property and a mush-ball when he snuggled in your arms. He lived to be 21 years of age and always enjoyed being a member of a loving family.  He was a head-butter, my favorite kind. I miss him so much.
