Indoor-outdoor Calico

Remember this little sweetheart?
She (calico's always are) was my first 'cat in window' for you. I pass by her home everyday on our walk and have photographed her in her window many times.
Today, I see she is an indoor-outdoor cat as many cats are in our town.
If I would  have called her she would have come to say hi! but the dog was with me and he treats outside cats like squirrels (chase....). She is a sweetie, that's for sure.
"Leave that dog at home, lady."
I have a busy weekend with cat-sitting and family celebrations. I'll have lots of pretty kitties to show you next week. First I have to pamper them silly.

Cats in windows & Remembering a great friend.

A walk about town found more felines enjoying the sunshine on their window-sills.

Care for a closer look?

and back home, Lily and friends were enjoying the sun from our patio windows.

It's raining off and on today. I am off to cat-sit and then home to work on some projects.
Hope you have some sun in your windows. :-)

Today, my good friend Christine would be turning 56. She lost her battle with ovarian cancer over 2 years ago. She is missed every day but today it hurts a little more. I hope she knows how much I miss her.

Silver , blue & white

When I was looking at some dishes the other day I came across this beautiful blue and white plate.
For some reason, I don't remember if it was one of my mother's or if I bought it years back. I never collected any blue and white china and found it tucked away under other dishes. It is called Woodland and made in England. Lately, I've been admiring blue and white transfer-ware so it's time to show this off. My mother loved the color blue, me..not so much.
But when I see this blue paired with white...I'm in love. My new (old)  tea-pot has feet. CUTE!!!!

Blue and silver look so pretty together. One compliments the other.
Here's that blue and white tea-cup I use every day now.
I love having my mom's silverware.

and now I love to pair it up with blue and white.
So, this is a little tribute to my mother who would smile to know that I finally saw what she saw in blue and white china.
Kane and I walked in the dreary, damp weather today but this little gal lifted my spirits sitting there with her unicorn friend.
I'll be joining up at a few parties.

the very feral & a few more vintage ladies

I've seen her every night for a week now but if I even move, she's gone like a shot. I say 'she' although I don't know what the cat is. It just has a pretty face from what I see on my camera. I zoomed in  as the cat was very far from my car. I have to leave the lot before 'she' will go to the food. I watched out my rear-view mirror as she slid under the truck to feast on her dinner. She..he, whatever, is beautiful. For the last few months there has been no sign of any ferals. I still leave food every night whether I see them or not. The next day it is gone.
For awhile, I thought I may be feeding the birds only as the crows will dine on cat food. But I'm no stranger to the 'very feral' and I expect I will never lay eyes on some of them. I'm happy the weather is good now as it was a harsh winter for the wild-life. All winter I provided them with kibble and if it wasn't below freezing I left them soft food and bread.  I have food donated sometimes and I appreciate that so much, as do the cats

Please drop by a wonderful blog called God's Little People and read how Joan followed her heart to help the homeless cats in Greece. It is a very touching story.http://godslittlepeople.blogspot.ca/

Here are a few more  Vintage women & their cats.
Kari..just google Vintage women and cats and enjoy.

In praise of the black cat, I suppose.

Vintage cat in window & "Get up"

Look how cute this is

My mornings start early now.

                                                           "Mornin' Deb"
                         Waaaaap...waaaaap!
She disturbs everyone.

"Mornin' Mom"

"Why I oughta..."

"Getup, getup, getup...
The birds are up, the birds are up......
And the sun is shinin'

"Give me that dang camera." Mmmm..tasty!'
"Alright, we're up."
and the day begins

Hope the sun is shining in your world.   (yawn)

Pretty dishes and a give-away winner

I spent part of Saturday evening going through some of my mom's pretty dishes. Of course she's on my mind a lot these days as Mother's Day fast approaches.
There are memories of her all around my home but mostly in my dining-room.

My mother always used the same dishes when she entertained at home but deep inside her buffet and china cabinet were many little treasures.

There were pieces of china & crystal that she may have picked up on her travels, tea-cups passed down to her and tiny spoons that she loved to collect.

Some of her dishes had been tucked away and not looked at in years.
I would often open the doors to the cabinet and just 'play awhile'. She always laughed about that and reminded me of how I loved playing with dishes as a child.

She loved plates, mostly.

She had many beautiful 'singles'. I find that I do now, too. This one was always my favorite.

I ended up cleaning the cabinets and re-arranging until Trouble entered the room. The slightest sound of dishes has her running full tilt to see what is going on. She plunked herself right in the middle of everything and seemed to be in her glory. I seriously think that Audrey is a dishaholic.

"Did I hear you say I was getting a subscription to 'Tea Time'?
"No Audrey, you'd just eat the magazine."

So, we do have a winner of the tea-cup giveaway. The names were placed in a hat and the retired guy picked  http://beverlysbackporch.blogspot.ca/. So, Congratulations, Beverly. I hope you enjoy the little tea-cup and if you have a kitty, let me know. I'll wait to receive your mailing address. Drop over to visit Beverly and be prepared to get hungry. :-)

I'm linking up withhttp://houseinroses.blogspot.ca/ for Show off your cottage Monday &.http://thetablescaper.blogspot.ca/ for Seasonal Sunday.

Thanks everyone for your comments and enjoy the rest of this glorious day. Please pop over to God's Little People for an auction going on to help the homeless cats in Greece. Thanks.
