"Farewell Downton" & Tea-cups on a base.

Farewell to our much-loved Downton Abbey. The finale was wonderful and I cried when they sang 'Auld Lang Syne'. It felt like we were saying "good-bye" to good friends.
My favorite character throughout the seasons was Isobel Crawley.

I loved her in every scene. She was a beautiful, feisty yet caring individual who grabbed life by the reigns and managed to always remain true to herself.
She was eager and enthusiastic and
was never fazed by the lifestyle at Downton.
She preferred to make her own cup of tea.
She was such a 'lady'.

"BRAVO, Penelope Wilton"

I hope to see you again.

I will miss this show.

Oh my goodness, Annie is just ecstatic. We have spring weather this week and the snow is melting away. The sun feels closer and much warmer, too.
But, we have a lot of snow, mind you, so it will take time to see green grass again.

I added some tiny feeders to a pile of brush that the birds and squirrels like to play in. It is in full view from the mouse-house window where the cats like to sit.

Tea-cups on a base; so easy and "cheep". :) Any old tea-cup will do. It is hot-glued on to a platform so the bird has something solid to stand on while eating.

The beloved chickadee is always the first to any new feeder I hang. They are just sitting up in those trees watching and waiting.

They love the tea-cup feeders, and as long as it doesn't snow anymore this winter, I'll leave them up for them to enjoy. It won't be long now before we change the clocks...Spring forward. Everyone is ready.

The nut-hatch prefers the pagoda but I'm sure he'll have a snack at the new site, too.

Last time I looked there was quite a gathering there.
American wrens, juncos, chickadees, starlings, a female cardinal and lots of mourning doves.

I'm glad they found it and will keep these two spoiled felines happy.
=^..^= =^..^=

Enjoy your day, everyone.

Sun-lit Sunday

And you thought I was done with baby pics. lol

I miss that little guy already.

I've been cleaning up and changing things around at the feeders again. Any excuse to be outside on this beautiful sunny day. Shoveling snow away from the old pump will help Simon to re-enter the world when he is good and ready.

Oh, that sun is beautiful today.

The birds are out keeping Audrey entertained.

Whew!

Thanks so much everyone for the lovely messages I received yesterday.

It's been a whirlwind of a few days with a new grand-son arriving and keeping little Gwynn busy so mommy & daddy can rest, even just a little.

We built a whole town waiting for baby brother to come home.

 Ruby was waiting, too.

Meet Angus Michael
7 lbs 1 oz
                                                             only hours old here.
                                                             I can't stop smiling

                                                          Here's the happy family.

Gwynn was swept away to 'do lunch' with Nana & Gramps at a local restaurant today. She had lots of fun, as did we, and went home with a few treasures. After more baby snuggles we then headed home.

Annie & Audrey have been a bit out of sorts these last two days. No matter how well they are cared for, waking up to find us gone is one thing that throws these two for a loop so I have some catch-up snuggling and all out cat-spoiling to do now that we are home. Starting now...

Feeling Blessed.

I looked out my daughter's window this morning; the snow glistening under the golden sunlight, thinking
"Thank You, God. How blessed we are to have been given such a gift from you this morning."

Our grandson is here, all 7 lbs 1 oz of him. He was born at 12:17 this morning.
Mom and baby are doing great.
I'll be back with info and photos soon.

Hugs, (tired) Deb

Around the mouse-house today.

"WTH?"

                                            =^..^=

Audrey has no decorating sense but she really hates mine. That rabbit was nose to the floor before I finished my first coffee this morning.

We have dug out of the last snow storm and all I hear is that Spring-like temps are arriving by the weekend. I hope I didn't dream that.

Sun-worshiper.

March has come in like a lion and yet there is a change in the sun. It's brighter, it's warmer and it makes us think of Spring.

Annie felt it was worth her time to worship this star around which the earth orbits.
She's just so appreciative.

                                               =^..^=

We got, what I'm hoping will be, our last winter snow-storm for this season.

Last night's fall should keep us shoveling for at least another week or so. It's. just. brutal.

My heart goes out to all out-door animals around here and to those two legged ones that must drive the roads today.

If you can...stay home.

Of course, we'll be out, too, if a certain baby decides to make his appearance today. He knows we can't wait to meet him but maybe he could give us one more day to get shovelled out first.

Gwynn has been given the green light to start dressing herself now. Mommy says she went off to her room to choose her own outfit yesterday with great pride. Minutes later, mommy finds her standing at her wardrobe with a clothes article in hand looking decisive.

"Is that what you've chosen to wear, Gwynnie?" says mom.

"Nope, she replied. It's too fancy."

(a new word Nana taught her ;)

She settled on a flowered top, pairing it with a paisley dress and leggings. Oh, and bare feet. :)))

She looked smashing.

Well, as the snow calms down a little and the bird feeders are all but invisible right now, it's time to get to work on cleaning up.

I have a murder of crows plus a hundred song birds out there looking for breakfast.

Take care,

hugs, Deb

"Welcome March"

MARCH
Now that sounds promising.

I'd have to say around here the closer we get to spring the nuttier the Nut-hatch become.
We have a little feeder close to the road that I keep filled with peanuts.
The Nut-hatch go nutty for them.

Aren't they cute little jiggers.

Just look at all that snow.
Ugh!

Red ran down the tree and stopped dead in his tracks.

And today I spotted our first robin of the year.
He must be wondering what he's doing here but it gave me great hope that the month of March will go out like a lamb.
In the tree above the old pump it sat singing it's little heart out.
Music to my ears.

We have so many Nut-hatch here.
They are funny to watch as they walk up and down the tree trunks.
And they are hardy little eaters.

White-breasted Nut-hatch

Well, I did promise some colour before you decide you can't look at this blog another day.

This little guy is running around looking for chocolate eggs to fill his carriage.
No worries, it will be packed by Easter.

The step-back is ready for the grandittles.

Little bits of Spring here and there.

Now I need to find a few sticks to build my Easter tree.
But how do you find sticks under three feet of snow?
:(
I'll wait another week because...
it's snowing again.
:(

Oh dear...someone thinks that chick looks delish.

"AUDREY!"

Better go.

hugs, Deb
