Cats

My little cluttered kitchen.

Outside the kitchen window.
Another gorgeous summer day.

The wildflowers are a treat for the eyes
and my one-whiskered garden cat
waits patiently for the glads to bloom.
Cats can wait for a long time.

Someone has just woken up and wants her breakfast.
On the window-sill. of course.

Cats just make a house a home, don't they?
Even a mouse-house.

Confusing Audrey and look who stopped by the mouse-house.

"Hmmm..why the heck is the lid off my kibble jar?"

"Is she trying to trick me?"

"Oh, I wouldn't do that, Audrey. Help yourself."
Truth is, I get tired of her pawing at it just because it's entertaining to watch me open it and give her a couple of kibbles for a treat.
Leaving it open confused the heck out of her. haha!

I've been busy outside staining the mouse-house and finishing up it's new look. The weather has been co-operating finally and I'm so thankful for that. The retired-guy has been leveling the property with his old trusty tractor so we are now walking on flat land and not stepping into holes and disappearing.

We are having great weather for out-door work and the sun-flowers are lovin' it.
Not too much sun but just enough to keep them happy.

Look who I found in the bush today.
It was Dave, the tabby-cat from next door. I always love when he drops by for a few pats and a snuggle.

Look at this face. He's so funny and full of himself. I told him again to not let me catch him at my bird-feeders. Does he look like he cares?

And this was our other visitor.

No snuggles for him.

Gwynnie-time.

Gwynn & Gramps spent some time today weeding her mommy's veggie garden.
Well, alright, Gramps did most of the work but Gwynn is learning the ropes here.

But that quickly got boring so she was off to the sand-box.

"Hey Kane, are you awake? Want to play with me?

Kane will think on that a bit.

"Ahh...who needs dogs. I'll just build a sand cake."
"Then I'll bake it in my brick oven."

It was Deeelicious!

And here's someone you haven't seen for awhile.
The fabulous
HUGO
This is one of Gwynn's kitties, our grand-kitty, who we love very much.
Hugo is diabetic and doing very well these days. He just woke up here so he looks a bit sleepy.
He's around 12 years old now and rated one of the best cats ever by everyone he meets.

Hot as blazes.

It was so hot yesterday that most humans and animals would most-likely have chosen to stay indoors.
30 degrees celcius or 86 degrees farenheight with very high humidity.
We Canadians are such wimps in this weather.

I walked to the back of the property to check on the perennials and found a tomato lying on the ground.
A perfect tomato is now ripening on the window-sill.
I shared some cool grapes with a friendly black squirrel and added some seed to a feeder for one of the lazy chippies. He lay across the opening and enjoyed a snack.

Before long, as it often does on these humid days, it began to pour rain. Following that was loud thunder and heavier rain.
I headed out again to drain the flower pots. *Geesh*.

This morning it is glorious weather.
It's time to make the best of it.

Sierra wishes you a 'purr-fect- day.

After the rain.

It poured all night. There was so much rain that, with the first coffee in hand, I headed out to dump water out of my flower pots. I learned quite quickly that they can only drain so much and need a little help after a down-pour.

I found this guy clinging to a sun-flower. It's like he has a suit of armor on. What the heck is it?

I ran into a toad as I headed to the old pump. No camera in hand...he was gone in a flash.

I had some succulents to add in-between some of the annuals at the old well. This is the best time to dig when the dirt is damp.  I am now finished planting here. It's been fun adding lots of colour and a variety of plants. It's here that I love to sit, enjoy a cup of tea and solve the world's problems (or maybe just my own. :)

A beautiful blue-jay arrived to take a quick soak in the bird-bath. I just let him be and didn't disturb him.I am not seeing too many of these birds right now. I think it's too hot for them and they have headed north. Two mourning doves dropped by this morning. First ones I've seen in awhile. I miss them as there were so many here in the Spring.

The heat and humidity have returned to Ontario. I'm so thankful for our little air-conditioner that can cool down the mouse-house in seconds. And so are the felines.

                                Cool as a cucumber, Audrey.

What made you smile today?

Catching the morning light.

A bit of colour...here and there.

An old photograph I came across today.
It brought on a smile, but oh, how I miss these two darling cats.
Ed & Lily
( a much needed nap on a rainy day)

And a visit with our youngest grandittle.

Hope you had lots to smile about.

My long-time friend

A cold-front had moved in and the sticky hot weather took a back-seat to a glorious, sunny and cool morning.

The mouse-house got a going over and the cats were lined up, one, two and three. "No excess hair-shedding and no gifts of hair-balls from you three this morning, please. I have company coming and you are all to be on your best behaviour."

                                          "Is she nuts?"

It was so fun to have my friend of 42 years visit us, share a meal and enjoy a long chat over a cup of tea or two.
Mina and I went to school together, shared our first apt. and have remained friends throughout life's ups and downs.
We had a great time and we weren't the only ones who enjoyed their company.
Annie fell so hard for Joey that she was looking for him after he left. She is such a flirt, that Peach is.
