Waiting on the sun.

Here's a beautiful cat blog to visit ...

http://www.traveling-cats.com/

Rain, rain and more rain. It's times like this that high rubber boots are a fashion statement around the property.

There are pops of new life everywhere as I walk around.

"Good Morning, Simon."
I have planted my veggie seeds and herbs and they now reside in the funny little greenhouse.
It's amazing that, while cool outside, the inside will be like a sauna by afternoon. It just takes a bit of sun to warm it up.

I'm not venturing too far from home these last few days. You're right...I am watching over Annie. She is feeling better each day and it's getting harder to keep her quiet. Like this morning; leave the apt. for a minute and come back to find her up on the armoire.
She climbed the cat tree and leaped to the top. Naughty patient.
Now, because of her shenanigans,  I have to keep the bedroom door closed. Her world is shrinking by the day. But it won't be long before she can once again run the stairs and visit the garage and her beloved pellet stove. I'l be happy when the bandage does not need changing. She is a good patient when it comes to medication but that part ticks her off.

I baked just to hover over her. I needed something to compliment a comforting and hot cup of tea.

Just in case you don't have this...
My favorite Blueberry Muffins made with farm fresh eggs.

 Best Blueberry mini Cakes
1/2 c butter melted and cooled slightly
2 c flour
1 1/4 c sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 c milk
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 c fresh blueberries
Set oven to 350 degrees
sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt into a large bowl
In a small bowl, whisk butter, milk, eggs and vanilla.
Stir wet ingredients into dry just until mixed.
Fold in berries.
Either scrape the batter into prepared pan or into muffin cups.
I then sprinkle a bit of brown sugar on top.
Bake 55 min. for cake
or 28 min. for mini cakes in muffin tins.

These mini cakes are a bit denser than muffins and oh, so delish.

We just discovered over the last few nights that a little brown bunny comes to our side feeder every night like clockwork around ten. I've started leaving some rabbit food and a carrot at the base of the pole for it. Maybe we'll end up with a resident rabbit. :)

"Oh, brother."

hugs, Deb

  1. Is Audrey having pangs of jealousy? Attention on her mom -- and now a new bunny in the mix? Poor girl!

The muffins look good. Soon I'll be able to enjoy those again. And I'm glad Annie is feeling up to her climbing -- even though she shouldn't do it, at least you know she's feeling good enough to want to. That's a good sign.

  2. Audrey would like some rabbit stew, I suspect. My aunt and uncle's kitchen overlooked their bird feeder hanging outside, and the window was large enough, almost down to the floor, that they could see out onto the ground while at the table. Regularly in the evenings, a rabbit would come up around the feeder, regardless of the light being on. I guess it felt safe.

I hope Annie's recovery continues to go well, medication and all, the sweet naughty patient!

  3. We, here in Texas have many, many, many, (get the drift) little brown bunny rabbits. Annie isn't "foggy brained" if she figured out how to get up there. It looks as though she is thinking, darn didn't get high enough to escape mama Deb's reach! Audrey, what a cutie and Simon! Still praying.

  4. Seems as though Annie is feeling herself again, so pleased but will miss her little coat, she looks so cute in it.

  5. Oh my goodness, bet you were shocked to find Annie way up there. She sure must be feeling better. Isn't it exciting to see green again after a long winter. That's a good sign. We have never had spring come so early. Everything here will be dying back while your plants and flowers are just getting beautiful. Then I will enjoy yours!

  7. It's great to know Annie feels well enough to tackle that climb, even though she shouldn't. Enforced rest now will lead to better outcomes later . Now all we have to do is convince Annie.

  9. Hi Deb, Audrey doesn't look too keen on a bunny brother. I hope Annie is completely healed soon. I clicked on the cat blog link but arrive on a horrid binary site? Have a great day. Jo

  11. Annie seems to be getting her energy back, while Audrey suddenly looks very tired at the mention of your garden bunny!

  12. I'm glad to see Annie is "bouncing" back; cats are resistant. Your blueberry cakes sound wonderful and I just ordered two bushes so we can have fresh berries...if I can keep the birds off them:-D

  14. Sometimes it's tough having a cat as a convalescent patient. But Annie is getting better, thank goodness, greatly because of the care you're giving her. She may be too impatient to see that - a touch of her daughter's personality in her, maybe...

  16. If Annie is being a "naughty" patient :) then she must be feeling better. Love that photo of her in the red shirt on top of the furniture.
Sending continued purrs and prayers for her recovery and for you, her caregiver.
