What made YOU smile lately?

The sun was shining and the temperature is rising.

My Easter tree got the seal of approval from our  grandittle. It just needed some tweaking. ;-)

Audrey didn't hide for a change.
She was very brave today.
She is either up to something or going through some major personality changes. I always hoped she would be friendly with visitors no matter how tall they are. :)
She even looked around for our little visitor after she went home.

The mouse-house smelled deeeeeelicious today.
                                   Best Banana Muffins
1 egg
3 mashed bananas
1/2 c melted butter
1 1/2 c flour
1/2 c sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon

Topping...
2 Tbsp melted butter
1/4 c brown sugar
1 Tbsp flour
1/3 c rolled oats
Preheat to 400 degrees
Mix egg,banana & melted butter
Combine flour & dry ingr. Add to banana mixture

Spoon topping on and bake for  17 - 20 min.

The crows always  enjoy seeing the grandittles arrive as there will be more toast crusts and half-eaten fruit slices being offered at the feeders. Guaranteed.

And every flat surface became a buffet for all the birds and Simon, who made an appearance for only a minute today and then returned to his den. :)

We were thrilled to see him again.

The snow is disappearing. So long...good riddance.

Hoping you, too, had lots to smile about today.

hugs, Deb

  3. Mmm, your banana muffins look yummy, Deb. We have a cat, Shadow who is unfriendly and hisses at any visitors - young and old! I always wish he'd be more sociable too. Loved seeing Audrey with your Grandlittle. Have a wonderful day. Jo

  4. As a kid, I remember when my parents would take us all to the ice-cream store, but my father never ordered anything for himself. His job was to finish all of the ice cream cones that we couldn't! Your tale about more snacks for the birds leftover from the grandchildren brought that memory into my head.

  5. Three cheers for Audrey and Simon. I have two kitties who stay around when someone comes over and two who say -- no way! And, three cheers for melting snow!

  6. So good to know Simon made it through winter....I can smell the aroma of your banana muffins all the way down here in Texas! Easter will be here before we know it and it's lovely at the mouse house!

  7. Thrilled and relieved Simon made an appearance!
Surely that lovely young lady arranging the tree can't be one of the grands we've met before. Way too grown already she is!

  9. I love all the busyness at the mouse house - grandittles, kitties, chipmunks, baking aromas, egg trees, and hopefully the end of the snow! You must be so tired of it by now dear Deb.

  11. I was going to write pretty much exactly what Mary (above) said! Here, we are so sick of the clouds and rain!
So good to see that Simon made it safely thru the winter. Looking at the photo of Gwen feeding the birds, I wondered what the white structure in the background was--then realized it was Simon's protection from the hawk.
Will be making those muffins soon--thanks for the recipe.
