There is nothing more refreshing than to have new window panes installed as it makes the whole room look better. Some are just being cleaned and they will do for awhile, yet. We'll save money anywhere we can. Looks like someone sees a bird in our Maple outside the window.
My daffodils have been sitting up on top of the fridge since Easter. They are safe there, and because they are poisonous for cats, I don't have to worry about mine chewing on them.
It was time to cut them and place them in fresh water.
These tiny vases belonged to my mother. She loved flowers and she adored the colour peach. That explains why I also received a peach tablecloth, peach lamp shades, peach duvet and pillow covers and on and on.
These vases, though, are very special and are among the favorite things I have of my mothers. They are kept in a safe place with some of my china.
So, now the daffodils go up on top of the fridge so the cats won't eat them.
Here it is Friday again. I have a bit of cat-sitting over the weekend and will be working more on de-cluttering some closets and drawers. I'm really getting into this and I'm being ruthless about it. I feel happiest and most inspired when I am not faced with clutter. I don't have a lot of clothes but I do have some that I haven't worn for a long time. To be sure that I want to pass it on, I will try on the item and see if I still find it appealing and comfortable. Do I look like the side of a bus in it? Does the colour wash me out? Does it itch? If so, gone, gone, gone. With dishes, I just have to be strong and eliminate those that I can. This is no easy task for a dishaholic.
So, it's onwards and upwards. "She loves me...she loves me not."
"Goodness...you do love me, right?"
"Oh yes, Audrey. You are staying."
I follow a beautiful blog named Estelle's and would love for you to pop over and say hi. If you love apple desserts you will be wanting to make her Apple Brownies.http://themainehouse.blogspot.ca/

They're not fond of changes... so I'm sure spring cleaning or things like this in the dining room must drive them nuts.
ReplyDeleteThe peach vases are so pretty! I just love them. I know what you mean about decluttering. I always feel better when the house is in order and rid of stuff I don't need. But I am a pack rat by nature thanks to my grandma, so it's hard to give things away.
ReplyDeleteI've been doing a lot of cleaning and Rosie just looks at me and wonders Why! The vases are sweet and I love the daffodils in them. I save unusual bottles too, XOXO
ReplyDeleteDeb I hope to get back to my cleaning and editing my 'stuff' this month. I also want to work on my deck garden. I'm getting much better at letting go of stuff...glad Audrey will stay :)
ReplyDeletehugs, Linda

Those little vases are precious!
ReplyDeleteI have waaaay too many clothes and need to empty out the closets. I hang onto things for too long even though I don't wear them.
ReplyDeleteI am inspired by your de cluttering, and must do more this week. Luckily a new SPCA charity shop has opened down the road, so I can give my cast offs to them, so they can use the money to help the kitties.
Give all the cats a pat from us.

ReplyDeletePurrs!
Good luck with the redo. Visiting from MHC.
ReplyDeleteNew windows sure make a difference don't they?
ReplyDeleteWishing you a most wonderful weekend Deb.
Hope you are getting some spring!

Your home and your things are so beautiful I love the daffodils! They made me realize I've been flowerless for a very long time. Your mother's vases are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing the kitties too@
Deb, your cats won't go on top the refrig? We can't do flowers in the house at all because the cats do like to 'eat' them... or at least 'chew' on them. They aren't all poisonous, but we have enough 'upchucking' without giving them additional incentive.
ReplyDeleteI have occasionally put a vase of daisies on the kitchen windowsill (where I can keep watch), but they must be hidden in the bathroom behind closed doors at night... or one of the kitties will find them. ;)
3 out of 5 are too old to go on top of the fridge. Annie & Audrey have never even tried. They are scamps for being on tables but have never tried the fridge.
DeleteThe daffodils look so lovely in those sweet vases. How lovely that you have her peach treasures! Give Audrey a kiss for me!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining in this week!

I had daffodils for Easter too, and they brightened my kitchen all last week. Your mother's peach vases are a real treasure!
ReplyDeleteOh Deb, it's so wonderful that you have new windows. Changes like that are so exciting for a home owner. The daffodils look beautful in your mother's vases. Little wonder they are your favorite things. I know what you mean about clutter! I am trying to be good about my own "stuff" but then suddenly I end up inheriting someone else's things. It's a constant battle! Enjoy these lovely spring days.
