Our little Cali cat

Very peacefully, Cali crossed the bridge today. She had a difficult morning and we made the heart-wrenching decision to let her go. We stayed with her and then brought her home. She will be taken to our property this weekend.
It's my daughter, Allie's birthday today. I'm an emotional wreck.

I'll be back soon. Just need some time.

Have a wonderful weekend and hug your cats for me.

  19. I know too well how this feels--and know too, that you will be looking over your shoulder from habit for many days, thinking to see cali in her favorite places.
This is the dreadful down side of having pets. 19 years is a wonderful age for a cat to attain and I'm sure you made every one of them special for your dear Cali.
You made the right decision--its just never easy to do this final kindness.

  22. I am so very sorry for your loss. You gave her the best 19 years any cat could have. And made the decision with her in mind, not your feelings. You did the most you could for her. So sad to happen at this time as you love the holiday so much. I think of her with my cats I lost in December as little Christmas angels who will always be with us in our hearts. You and your family are in my prayers at this time.

  27. There is nothing we can say at this time to ease your broken heart. We are so sorry for your loss.
We have a special candle that we light when one of us crosses. On the candle it says:
    Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you...
    I loved you so...
    'twas heaven here with you.
    Isla Paschal Richardson
We will light this candle for Cali.

  30. I am so sorry Deb for your loss. You were very lucky to have Cali for 19 years. You provided her a wonderful home and love. You are a very special person Deb and Cali was very lucky to have you as her Mommy. My kitty Nikki, passed away 4 years ago on November 28th. The pain and sadness lessens overtime but it never really goes away. My memories of my Nikki have grown fonder over time. Thank you for sharing Cali with us.

  35. I'm sorry. I can't really say much as this time last year I lost Sarah and I'm not really over it yet. Cali couldn't have had a more loving and competent owner than you and that will have to sustain you for now.

But for now, put your best smile on your face and hug your birthday girl, wishing her everything a mother wishes for her daughter.I know exactly what you are feeling. I have been there. So sorry. Please, be brave.

  54. I'm sorry I haven't been keeping up as I should. I am SO sorry to hear about your dear Cali. I can very much relate to your grief, having recently lost Lucy. It is good that you have your other kitties and your kitty clients, but that doesn't erase the loss and just plain MISSING someone who has been with you for 19 years.
You were both fortunate to have enriched each other's life.
    Purr, prayer and tears.
