watchful eyes

I have added another litter box to the kitten room.
Too many bums in one box.

It's working better now. Not so much litter to clean up off the floor.

Today was a gorgeous day here in Carleton Place, Ontario just west of Ottawa.
It was unseasonably warm and very sunny. I took Kane for his daily walk and noticed he really dawdled today; stopping to smell every little thing. I watched another lady walk by with her young dog, trying to keep up with it as it pranced along. I remember the days walking Kane when he'd be pulling me along and I would wish he would grow up and slow down. Well, the old saying 'be careful what you wish for' is true because he has grown up, grown old and he is a lot slower. Now it just makes me sad.

I saw a loose dog on the street ahead of us as we turned a corner. It's not surprising to find a dog running around off-leash in this town. I hate it but there's not much you can do. Animal Control can be called and they get a warning and then the next day they just let the dog out loose again. Kane does not do well with a loose dog running up to him so we turned the corner and headed in a different direction. While Kane sniffed around I felt like someone was watching us. Yes, amongst the window clutter were two feline eyes.

I am taking Annie in for a check-up. She has had diarrhea the last couple of days and I am concerned about her. She has had 3 kittens at a very young age and had to be de-wormed and vaccinated all at the same time. She is not gaining weight like I had hoped she would although she eats many times throughout the day. She is a fragile looking cat and has come from a very bad situation. She worries me. Please have good thoughts for her.  I will keep you posted.

  5. .We are praying for our Annie. She had such a bad life and we so want her to have health and happiness and a loving forever home. Please tell her she is loved and give her kisses and hugs from us. Awaiting update.
    God bless you Deb!

  6. Wishing Annie Well.... She is so lovely.

  7. Will be keeping Annie in thought and prayer. Our furbabies are just like children!! xo HHL

  8. Poor Annie. She has had a lot to deal with in her short little life. We are all thinking of her here at Just sayin.

  9. I've had a number of mother cats not put on weight until the babies moved on. They might not nurse as much, but they are bigger and can drain a mom. I hope all Annie is dealing with is hungry hungry kittens and she'll be just fine once they move on to their new homes

  10. My heart aches for Annie.. My daughter found our Miss Kitty and her baby about 17 years ago.. Miss Kitty was small then and never did gain much weight~~~I think the most she ever weighed was seven lbs. We took her to our Vet for tests and found that she had an overactive thyroid.. She was on thyroid meds for the rest of her life and also developed kidney disease.. We lost her in August of this year.. We sill have her son, Boo, and he is doing well at the ripe old age of 16.. The only thing wrong with him is that he's spoiled rotten..
I love the pictures of your growing babies.. Kittens are so precious. I just wish they would stay little longer..
I will keep Annie in my prayers.. Let us know how she is doing.
    Blessings, Charlotte in Va.

  11. Purring for Annie...hope they can find out what is going on with her, and fix her right up.

I know what it's like having an older animal that you are noticing to be slowing down. Although I love the extra snuggles I am getting from Smokey lately, I hate to think of him as getting old. I cherish every moment with him, as I am sure you do with Kane.

  12. Praying for loving homes for these beautiful cats.
You amaze me how you manage to find cats in the windows......I never see any here, but...I'm in Texas, maybe that's the difference.

  13. Many good thoughts for Annie, and kisses too. I hope she'll be just fine. The kittens are as gorgeous as ever.
