A 'new' tea-cup for Fall

It was cool enough this morning to fire up the old wood stove.
Now that's a sure sign that Summer is coming to an end. This is our 18 year old Lily.
I'm seeing more and more leaves changing.
and a few less cats sitting on their porch in the mornings.
or in the trees

I have a new tea-cup that I'd say I have Fallen for.

It's not vintage like me, it's brand new.

It's such a cheery little cup & saucer.
I found it at a health food store when I went to buy organic brown eggs.
It was just sitting on a shelf and needed a home.
It fits in just fine with my tea-cup from South Korea.

Banana Cake
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups of white sugar
2 organic eggs
3 mashed very ripe bananas
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup milk
Mix all the above together

1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 3/4 cups of all purpose flour
Mix all the above together

Now mix the dry with the moist in a bowl
Add 1 tsp of baking soda to 1/2 cup of hot water. Dissolve soda.
Add to the above mixture.
Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

This goes perfect with Vanilla Icing or a Golden Butter Icing.

Golden Butter Icing
1/2 cup butter
2 cups confectionery sugar
1/2 cup of light cream
2 tsp. vanilla

Melt butter in a saucepan until golden brown. Remove from heat and stir in sugar. Blend in cream and flavoring. Place pan in ice water and bet until you can spread. More cream can be added in needed.

This is so good.

I love this cake with a hot cup of tea and some company.
My company today is waiting for a moth to fly by. That's her treat.

hugs, Deb

  2. What a wonderful post, Deb! Your Lily is adorable. I've always had a weakness for white kitties.
The orange teacup is just perfect for Fall days and evenings.
    I was reading your profile and I had to laugh when you said you would arm wrestle for black licorice! Me too; I would love some pipes and cigars! {The real stuff, none of that twisted stuff.}
Thanks for joining me for tea and have a delightful week.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  6. A very fall-like new cup and saucer that is just perfect for the season. The banana cake sounds perfectly scrumptious and will be a nice treat this week with some bananas my husband doesn't use for his cereal. XOXO

  9. Your new teacup is a nice autumn colour and appears it will hold a generous cup of tea. Tea breads are a favourite when I have afternoon tea and I'll compare your banana loaf to mine - always room for a better recipe.
We were tempted to put our fireplace on but it's warming up again so it can wait another few weeks.

  11. I had to look again to be reminded of where you live for autumn really has come to your area. We are just beginning to get some cooler weather and thankful but I still am in flip flops and shorts. The orange cup and saucer is just adorable and I love all the fall feelings from your beautiful post. The tea napkins are just right of a tea time setting. Your Kitty Cats are precious and it is so fun to see them in their splendor. I am drawn to Audrey for I had a Russian Blue named Blue and he had the same eyes and coloring. I have my third rough collie named Shelby and she reminds me of your Cane. I really enjoy you sharing your pets for they are all so beautiful. Please keep showing your lovely photos of your home and tea times.

    Thanks, Pam
